Use These 5 Hacks to Make Kickass Instagram Reels for Greater Reach

You’re sitting in a restaurant. And you notice a design flaw in one of the walls. Simply take your phone. Record a video explaining the design flaw. And upload it as an Instagram reel.

Learning to leverage Instagram reels is a great way for architects and interior designers to reach and influence potential clients.

Here are 5 hacks to get the maximum out of your Instagram reels:

1. Offer Free Consulting: Imagine a reel titled ‘5 Innovative Home Office Designs for Small Spaces’ or ‘Cheap and Easy DIY Home Improvements’ going viral.

My friend, Umang Goyal runs an interior design studio. In his reels, Umang generously advises clients about what materials to use in their homes.

2. Post Consistently: At least 4 reels a week. And you’ll soon see yourself getting greater organic traction and inquiries.

Through his Instagram handle, Umang posts nearly every day.

3. Know Your Customer: Umang realized that his ideal clients were 50+ years old. While he started out making reels in English, he quickly switched to Hindi. And the views on his reels skyrocketed!

A minor tweak in his content strategy helped him organically grow his following on Instagram.

4. Use Trending Music: Even if you have audio on your video, select trending music from Instagram and reduce the volume of the song to zero.

This way the pre-recorded audio will play, while the trending music will be muted; and the Instagram algorithm will pick up the trending music for greater organic reach.

5. Use Images: A simple, static image can also be converted into a video with a voiceover.

Going back to our restaurant example. Take a photo of the design flaw in the restaurant wall. Upload it to Canva. Make a video. Separately record a voiceover on your phone explaining the flaw. Upload the audio into Canva. Add it to your video. Export the video. And your reel is ready.
